Preparations

Two weeks to go and still lots to do! We’re getting the bikes ready and Iren's bike is in for a service today. We asked if they could put a rear luggage rack on the bike. Then we were in for a bit of a surprise - "that's not possible" said the very helpful man in the Spinn bike shop. Hmmm, looks like we need to buy a new bike quickly! The first unexpected expense! Probably the first of many… Iren is actually secretly pleased, she gets a new bike. She has been complaining of various noises and rusty bits lately.

The first port of call is Dusseldorf on the Rhine river. We’re cycling towards Switzerland. We have the first couple of weeks sorted out, but after that it gets a bit hazy- we’ll see what type of terrain we prefer and how far we manage to go each day.
